Healthy Aging Study

Our study covers cognitive health across the lifespan, with a special focus on brain regions that are the very first to experience damage in Alzheimer’s disease. Our goal is to understand the normal lifespan development of these crucial systems, so we can identify individuals who might be at risk for disease and develop and test interventions to improve and sustain healthy functioning. We pride ourselves on treating all study participants with warmth and hospitality as we move science forward together. We do not diagnose diseases, nor do we give participants individual cognitive results. Participants’ MRI scans will be looked at for free by Weill Cornell radiologists (to make sure there is nothing urgent on the scan that needs medical attention). We are happy to answer as many questions about cognitive aging as we can while you are with us. We will send you updates on what the study has discovered and published indefinitely.

Currently, we are recruiting anybody over age 18, with a special focus on ages 40-60. Our study takes about 5 hours, including a 90-minute research MRI and a wide variety of other things (paper-and-pencil testing, blood pressure measurement, computer tasks, smell testing, saliva sample). Compensation is $100 and a free lunch. We have two ways to assess eligibility. If you feel comfortable, there are two Google Forms that can be quickly filled out from any computer or smartphone (see below). For those who would prefer phone screening, our study phone number is 607-253-2046. You can leave a message and a member of study staff will call back in 3-5 days. Feel free to email us with any questions at brain.aclab@cornell.edu. This study is approved by the Cornell Institutional Review Board with number 1910009087.
